Life Becomes Death was a research piece I was fortunate enough to take part in. Iona Wait the director of the piece takes a lot of inspiration and creativity from physical theatre performances. An area in which I feel unfamiliar with. We conducted a few workshops in which we analysed different forms of decomposition and if we were to represent those forms of decomposition, how would it affect our movement?
The performance in itself involved some abstract motifs.
From my perspective as an actor, I felt like it wasn't a character I was playing but more so the embodiment of something spiritual. It was more about the connection between my body and the subconscious.
This performance overall allowed me to feel much more confident within my movement abilities as we got to rehearse and refine movements, all whilst taking advice and responding with that Actor to Director connection.
